The sweet life…

My mum and I share a couple of girlfriends - K and T – who love a good theme as much as we do.  So a couple years ago we started a tradition.  The birthday girl chooses a movie – and then we try to find a restaurant that goes with the movie.  Saturday was K’s celebration.  She chose Julie & Julia (stay tuned for the review); we chose a charming little bistro called “La Vie en Rose.”

A stroll along Main street led us to our destination …

Where we drank smooth, dark coffee …

 Ate a delectable brunch …

And otherwise enjoyed each other’s company…

Good food.  People you love.  Now that, my friends, is the sweet life!

Who says that?

Have you ever noticed how some people don’t have a filter?  Case in point: yesterday–at church no less– a lady came up to and the conversation went something like this …

Her:  How are you doing?

Me:  Good.

Her:  Have you found a job yet?

Me:  Nope.  Not yet …

Her:  Well, I guess you’re mom will just have to work two jobs.

I laughed – a light, nervous laugh – because, quiet frankly, that’s where she lost me.  I couldn’t grasp what my mom had to do with me being unemployed.  And then it hit me.  GASP!  How rude

Considering we were in church and all, it’s a good thing I have a filter.  Most of the time.
