A no-good, very-bad thing …

The other day I was driving downtown when out of the corner of my eye I spotted it – a shop full of festive papers!   I was sure of it!  So excited was I with this delightful discovery I nearly drove up on the sidewalk (those of you familiar with my driving record this year, need not be appalled).

The store is called Paisley Roberts … and it’s been there for years, or so I’ve been told.  Where I’ve been that time, I haven’t the slightest.

But I finally set foot in the store yesterday.  Fanciful ribbons, fine writing papers, homespun envelopes, whimsical wrapping papers,  charming note cards, themed sticky notes, fountain pens, rollerballs, sealing wax – it was all there.  Being surrounded by such treasures was more than I could bare.  *swoon* I could spend so much money. If only I had it.

My only complaint:  they were the least bit friendly.  I was a bit shocked myself.  Check out their website and just try to tell me you don’t imagine them to be of the friendly sort.  Right now – given they are currently the only place in town that seems to carry sealing wax – I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt.  They’re shy, perhaps; their pet fish moved to the great pond beyond; their bicycle tires popped and they were forced to walk into work, twenty-miles uphill, whatever.  But flat tires or no, if I find the same merchandise elsewhere, offered with a warm smile and inviting greeting, I’ll be a faithful patron…

It seems like a very strange place to find grumpiness. You would think they would be happy in their little paper world…
