For the safety of all involved, I stay off the slopes in the winter. In doing so, I tend not to wish for snow, except at Christmastime–even then, it’s mostly due the fact that I’m a hopeless romantic. This year, however, the snow did not fall at Christmas; it barely snowed after Christmas. Even when the last decoration was safely tucked away, the flakes refused to flurry.
As the skies remain blue and the sun shines bright, ski resort owners are picking up nervous disorders, farmers are getting panicky, and hotshot crews are gearing up for a summer of adventure. Even Special Olympics Idaho is feeling the pinch, having to cancel and postpone.
But the birds and I? We’re happy as clams . . .
All the same, we promise to pray for snow, and lots of it . . . so long as it sticks to those mountainous neighborhoods. We’d rather not dispel our bright outlook here in the valley, thank you.
So be you here or there, in sunshine or knee deep in snow, I hope this first weekend of 2012 finds you happy–looking forward to a year that shines a bit above the rest.
. . . a grand weekend to you, my friends!

My recent post Hi
I'm crossing my fingers for some snow as well – those ski resorts and farmers really need it!
My recent post Goodbye old buddy
I'm with you, Amy!! If we could bypass snow altogether, I wouldn't be in the least disappointed
