I recently starting watching Cranford. Being a sucker for period pieces, I’m loving it. I love the stories, the manors, and the customs. I love Lady Ludlow’s grand garden party. It’s on my list, you know, a garden party that’s the social occasion of summer. I mean really, how great would it be to host 200 or so of your closest friends and family for an afternoon of fun and frivolity?!
Alas, it won’t be this weekend. I’m afraid we’ll have to find other amusements to bide our time.
Lucky for us, it’s summer.
So to you, dear friends, I wish days of carefree fun: meander the garden, dance in the grass, eat small sandwiches, drink festive libations, play lawn games–all under the watchful eye of the sun. I pray you’ll laugh and frolic to such an extent you’ll have no recourse but to fall into bed thinking surely it cannot get any better–only to awake the next morning to find it mostly assuredly can.
. . . happiest of weekend wishes to you and yours!
