Sunflower variety packs are especially well suited for those easily amused. Why yes, they are a favorite, however did you know?
Seeing what becomes of the seeds has been especially fun, this year–they’ve sprouted blooms of all sorts and varieties, from the palest of yellow to the darkest of burgundy. Yet the Teddy Bear remains a favorite. Of all sunflowers, Ted is aptly named. Cut him, bring him indoors, and when friends gape in awe you can nonchallantly reply, Oh, that–it’s just the sunshine, hanging out, on my china hutch . . .
It’s a good thing it will be shining in of doors, because it’s not looking good for it to do so, out of doors. The weather report is calling for cooler temps (hooray!) and wind (rude!). Due all the fires in this neck of the woods, the forecast for Saturday through Monday is actually “Areas of Smoke.”
Not that it will stop us from fun and frivolity, mind you. As a matter of fact, my mum and I are heading out for another wee road trip. You might recall me writing about our friend Dixi–well, we’re going to visit her mama. I’m not sure what we’ll be doing, but I know she has plans. She’s not your typical septuagenarian.
With that, I better tie up a few loose ends, maybe throw a few things in a bag or two.
I wish you a beautiful weekend–may it warm you from the tips of your toes, to the top of your head.
A bright, happy weekend to you, my friends!
