On this day – in 1887 – Mr. Emile Berliner filed for a patent for his invention of the lateral-cut, flat-disk gramophone. Well, La-dee-da, you say! And I should guess – it’s the record player to us, my friends. Sure, the sound may not have been the best. But there’s something about that crackle that sparks a bit of romance. Perhaps it’s the history, a nostalgia for a simpler time. Perhaps it’s the sound, music in it’s rawest form.
