The weekend was blustery–and a little misleading. The weatherman, you see, promised a delightful Saturday–light on wind, big on warmth. The mere thought made me giddy. But Saturday came and went and nary a hint of loveliness. The skies were grey, the breeze chilling, and I just wanted to curl up in a little ball and sleep. That’s what the weather here does to a person. IT SUCKS THE LIFE FROM YOUR VERY BEING!!! Okay, that may be a slight exageration, but around this time of year, on any given gloomy day, nearly everyone you meet will say something like, “I don’t know why, but I’m so tired…So. Tired.” They shake their head in disbelief and you nod in understanding.
In such cases, there’s really only so much you can do–read, eat, shop, take in a matinee. And that’s precisely what we did.
I also decided it was high time to introduce you to my imaginary friends. That’s right – I finally figured out how to add links to my blogroll. {insert thunderous applause here}
It only took me a year.
Like everything else on my blog, the list is a hodge-podge. They’re friends, and those who feel like friends. They’re polar opposites, and my mirror image. And for one reason or another, I love ’em all. If I could, I would invite them all over for dinner (hopefully someone else would cook). It would be crazy and totally fun… at the very least we’d all come away with some great material.
To help you find links you might enjoy, I’ve sorted them out by category. Probably not the best–Come sit by my fire, for instance, probably should be in a category all it’s own. Poetry, perhaps? For Relyn does have the heart of a poet.
And in case you can’t decipher my meaning, “Oh yes they did” are the artsy, the crafty, the DYI-ers … those who are oh-so impressive in what they can do. They make it seem so easy, I feel as though I could do it too (if you’ve seen any of my attempts, you realize how impressive this is)! Speaking of which, Bluebird Luxe is having a super giveaway. And for the record, Eileen’s blog background makes me smile–and covet–everytime I lay eyes on it. *sigh*
Do I have favorites? Um, hello, they’re listed here! Although, I must admit, I’m especially drawn to the stories … to Life in narrative. It’s a bit of a shock, I know.
I’ve said it before, and more than likely I’ll say it again, Jules of Pancakes & French Fries reminds me of a modern-day Erma Bombeck. What’s not to love? Yeah, I can’t think of anything either. It will be so exciting when her book comes out … because then I’ll have an entire year’s worth of gifts mapped out! {for friends and family members, most sorry to ruin the surprise}
A friend sent me a link to Nella Cordelia’s birth story – with a disclaimer that I may need a tissue…one measily tissue. I could only be so lucky. By the time I finished reading, my eyes were puffy, my nose red, and I was covered in used Kleenex. I’ve been following her blog ever since. Kelle Hampton captures the beauty in life–both in photo and prose. She’s also one of those great souls who believes any reason is a good reason to celebrate.
So without further ado, go forth and be unproductive!
But do be warned: If you’re new to the blogging community, you must understand that blogs have a way of sneaking up on you. You intend to spend a few minutes reading one or two and before you know it, hours have passed. HOURS. If you’re not careful, you could find yourself hunched over your keyboard, eyes glazed, fingers knarled from constant pecking–and when you’re children ask what’s for dinner, you’ll yell back, “Throw in another Poptart!” That said, do blog responsibly.

wow! that is exciting!
