I woke up yesterday morning to a dead coffeepot. Seriously. What kind of evil coffee-making-appliance gives up the ghost on a MONDAY MORNING?! That’s just rude.
Thankfully, we had some instant coffee lying about {don’t scoff–desperate times call for desperate measures}. It was just enough to propel me out the door and up the road to Shannon’s for volleyball. Her mother can rejoice. Shanon can rejoice; I remained too tired to even attept to talk her ear off.
As I sat in the parking lot waiting for practice to finish, boys emerged from the field. Soccer perhaps? I’m sure to most the uniforms were a dead giveway, but you are speaking with someone who hasn’t an athletic bone in her body. I’m just gonna go with Soccer … since they were out on the field and I could still see football helmets ablaze in the sun. So, Soccer Boy gets in his car, revs his engine and drives off … as fast as his car can go. And I snickered … because, hello … it was funny! I wanted to say, “Dude! You’re driving a Saturn … and not even a sporty Saturn … you’re driving a MID-SIZE VEHICLE.” Still, I’m thankful to the lad … he made a woefully under-caffeinated morning much more bearable.
And you know, those boys never outgrow the intrigue that surrounds a “cool” ride. Yesterday was also the annual car show at my grandma’s home. One gentleman, who just happens to be 101, stood by one car and said to everyone who passed by, “Do you know, I was one year old when this came out!”
Old guys, young guys, they all looked something like this…
All in all, I’d say it was a grand way to usher in summer …

Oh man, you had me at the coffee maker not working monday morning….yikes!! that would have made me want to just go right back to bed :)!
