This week I began driving a young friend to volleyball. It’s a bit of a trek, but I promised not to run through any fences. I also promised to refrain from speeding, seeing how I already earned my speeding ticket and all.
Can I just tell you? It’s painful … PAINFUL … having old people leave us in their dust. *sigh*
And by old, I mean REALLY old. Old people, you see, say things like, “I remember when this was farmland, far as the eye could see.” The only problem: the other day that very statement was uttered–aloud, in the presence of another–from my very own lips. Oh yes my friends, it’s true. Like elderly of old, I was completely flabbergasted that a road that use to look similar to the one above, was suddenly surrounded by neighborhoods and strip malls. Of course, I was also a bit taken back that I mentioned this fact out loud.
Now, when speaking of age, I’ll be forced to clarify: REALLY old … not to be confused with old-like-me.
