Well, looky what I found sitting in a tree…
It’s a robin … A ROBIN, PEOPLE!
You know, back in the day, the first robin sighting was call for celebration. The event was printed in the town paper, they baked cakes and threw a parade. You see, that red-breasted bird, perched atop a naked tree branch was a sign of hope–their white flags of surrender had been seen–spring was on the way!
Now, I know what you’re thinking: Pfffttt! First you’re hanging our seasonal hopes on a whistlepig, now a bird? To this I can only respond, yes, yes I am. I am taking it and running toward the sunshine, my friends.
And to you–those facing seasonal despair, long grey days, cold dark nights, barren landscapes as far as the eye can see–I wish the same. For brighter days are coming; they’re bound to really. So hang tight. Snuggle in with those you love, bake a cake, have yourself a little celebration even, as I send you…
I like your outlook!! I'm running with it too…Spring is "almost" here! ;o)
Have a great weekend, friend!
Happy robin siting. YAY!
