It’s Punxsutawney Phil—Seer of Seers, Prognosticator of Prognosticators, Weather Predictor Extraordinaire—and today is his day!
Although, he may beg to differ. After all, there he is, minding his own business, burrowed in, snug-as’-a-bug-in-a-rug, when a man wearing a large top hat wakes him from his slumber—totally disrupting his weight loss plan. What’s that? You didn’t know groundhogs lose 50% of their body weight during hibernation? Oh yes, my friends, it’s true. Makes me wonder why I’m trying to work more exercise into my days when, obviously, I should be working in more naps.
All the same, Phil caught nary a glimpse of his shadow—a phenom that has happened a mere sixteen times in the last 124 years. Guess you might say it’s our day.
So drink up … eat crepes … and be merry, for spring is on the way!
