I don’t know about you, but my weekend was a little bit of fabulous. Sigh.
In case you’re just dying to know about our road trip, it went something like this: We hit the road early Saturday morning {look; we’re going 75 MPH and it looks like we’re standing still!} …
And I’ve got to say, the sky did not look hopeful …
We, of course, paid the clouds no mind. Okay, we may have paid them a little mind—we may have whined a bit, and possibly begged them to hold off on the rain. But other than that, we totally remained hopeful.
Fine. In the interest of full disclosure, our hope may have wavered as long as we were on the road. If you’ve ever been on a road trip through the desert, you know our pain. After all, desert miles are longer than regular miles. Little known fact. One desert mile roughly equals twenty miles of the scenic byway. So when I say the scenery is mile after mile of this …
I’m talking serious miles. And “this” my friends is completely green and lush at the moment. Lord have mercy if you have to travel during a drought year. It’s enough to bring a tear to your eye—and I’m not talking the sagebrush …
Luckily, every once and again, you’ll happen upon something exciting—like rusted train cars. All together now, Ooh-Ahhh…
True to form, we got lost. But it was totally not our fault. MapQuest lead us astray. Rude. But once we found our way, grand times were had by all—including a trip to Shoshone Falls …
Courtesy of long-standing rainfall, “Niagra Falls of the West” was even more spectacular than usual. So were the crowds. To beat ‘em, we hiked to a deserted spot, where the only sound to be heard was the mighty rush of water …
Let me just tell you, there’s nothing like nature to remind you it’s going to be okay …
Other than that, we chatted and laughed, we walked our friends secret garden and perused wares at Art in the Park. Not only did the weather hold up, we were able to eat al fresco, too. This was our view …
As we ate fish and chips, we watched crazy people BASE jump from the Perinne bridge. Seriously, there for awhile they were falling like confetti.
All in all, the road trip was the perfect reminder: you don’t have to go far, to get away.
I´ll try and remember that last sentence when i whine about not going anywhere this summer.
And Why, Amy, did you not share that wonderful picture with the reed and the lake in the background? Loved it so!
There are a lot of oohh´s and aaah´s about this trip 🙂
My recent post what i love – Music
Gorgeous, gorgeous images! You should be so proud. And, oh what a marvelous place. Even the desert. I do love a good desert. Well, as long as I don't have to live there. That bridge is killing me with its beauty. WOW!!
Thanks, Relyn!
