As mentioned last Friday, I tried a new cake recipe for my aunt and uncle’s visit–Rum-Scented Marble Cake. So good! And I’m so glad because, seriously, that was two hours of my life I’ll never get back.
It came out of the pan perfectly, a light golden brown, with a scent so delectable it could bring a tear to your eye. The one dilemma was the marbling. I’ve never done a marbled cake before, and for some reason I could not visualize what the instructions were trying to say. So, I Panicked . . .
Ere go, my marbling waffled between an image of a horseshoe and an Omega. Awesome, really. Of course, I’ll never, in a million years, be able to recreate this look–so do enjoy it now.
I guess you might say from the looks of things, that was one lucky cake . . . or maybe the end of me. Considering that puppy contained three sticks of butter and seven eggs–and diets and health issues kept guests from taking any home, hence, propelling me to eat what remained–well, let’s just say it might not have been the best.
No, let’s go with a lucky cake, and a sweet ending to the month of March. {Yes, I can always find a good excuse to eat dessert. It’s a gift.}
So here’s to you, my friends. One more month of 2012 draws to a close, another begins. And it all happens in one little weekend. So make it good.
. . . sweet surprises and happy days to you!
I think your marble cake looks perfect! And if I was there, I’d take a piece home with me too….diets be damned 🙂 Hope you have a wonderful weekend! It’s going to be a busy one for me, but I can’t wait!
A woman after my own heart–if only we lived closer! I would have only gained 5 pounds, rather than 10! 😉
That's a pretty gorgeous cake – well done you!
