The long weekend was quite lovely, thank you; here are a few keys . . .
Work. Work, but don’t work a lot. Maybe pull a few weeds out front {so as not to look white trash}, get your tomato plants in the ground–finally! You know, work just enough to make yourself feel better about being completely and utterly worthless the rest of the time.
Play. Stroll about, window shop like you have money, laugh–a long weekend must be full of such things. When it rains, read, maybe write a bit. Oh, and an adventure such as John Carter would be grand, too! When the sun shines, get out there–at times by yourself, at times with those you love–and soak it in for all you’re worth.
Frolic. Most importantly, a holiday demands good food, good friends, and yes, good family {do attempt to be on your best behavior–and for the love of God and all that is holy do not have a ‘moment’ at church}. But a helpful hint: by the looks of the empty roads, you may be tempted to believe the whole city has gone out of town; in turn, you may load up your grandmother and haul her to a park. But therein lies the rub: you see, people are off the roads because they’re at the parks. Getting anywhere near one is something akin to hacking through the bush. Unless you’re big on hoards, save it for another day, my friends. Save it for another day.
With that, I do believe I’ll continue the frivolity a bit longer.
Isn’t the mere thought positively scrumptious?!
My holiday was more work than frolic, but it was still a nice change of pace from the usual same ol'.
So long as it was fun work! 🙂
