Remember, the first of the year when I proclaimed myself resolute in writing one letter, each month?
Yeah, August is the first month that actually happened.
Even then I found myself woefully inept. I’ll need to write an addendum email to catch all the tidbits missed.
Pitiful.
Speaking of which, it was the end of August, 1961 that The Marvelettes released their single Please Mr. Postman. It went on to become the first Motown song to reach #1 on the Billboard Hot 100–a feat repeated in 1975, with the Carpenters. Even today, it remains some good times. As a matter of fact, it would be a fine way to regroup. So have yourself a break (might I suggest almond chocolate biscotti dipped in coffee?) and party down to the Motown sound . . .
PS–That cover art seems a bit premonitory, non? It kinda makes me want to eat another biscotti . . .
