Well, hello to you-
I’ve been working behind the scenes on my book blog again. I hope to get it up and running, truly, this year (I’ll provide a link when that moment nears).
If you’ve visited said blog at all, you know it includes a wee Latin lesson. A few days ago, the word was “Volare” . . . to fly, to fly away. For example, Verba volant, littera scripta manet . . . Words fly away, but the written letter remains.
Sigh.
Doesn’t it just make you want to break out your writing accouterments and pen a letter? If not, don’t tell me; I can’t know these things. Anytime someone questions sending things in the mail, I break out in hives; when they talk against students learning penmanship, I develop a nervous tick. It’s not pretty.
Needless to say, I do believe I’ll jot a note or two in the coming days. Seems the perfect activity for the weekend–the decorations have been taken down and stored for another year, the outdoor temps are freezing, and the crazed calendar of activity has flipped to a calmer month. I’ve really no recourse but to light all the candles, pour myself some tea, and have myself a long distance chat with a friend.
Whatever you’ve planned for the weekend, I hope you find some time on your hands. Not the kind of time that’s boring, mind you, or much-too-quiet; rather, time free and all to yourself . . . time to dream and plan and regroup. Time to set the new year up right . . .
With that, a most happy 1st weekend of 2013!
Yes, I actually love writing letters and wish I had more pen pals to write to. I just bought this fabulous paper as well and am just looking for an opportunity to use it
My recent post Rebellious streak
Ah, a girl after my own heart! Fine writing papers and personal wax seals are enough to make me swoon . . .
There is just no joy like a handwritten letter, is there?
No, no there is not. Furthermore, I don\’t have nearly enough joy in my life. 🙂
I wish I was more of a "letter writing" friend. I've tried numerous times and I find it so hard to sit still for any given time in order to do it 🙁 But the desire is always there.
My recent post Back to the Business of DYI’ing
My difficulty lies in finding the time. Once I do that, I make it all cozy, grab a little something sip and nibble on, and pretend my friend is right there before me. It\’s glorious! But finding–or better yet, making the time–that seems to get me. Well, that and the fact my hand isn\’t use to writing any more . . . so I\’m a big wimp! 🙂
