It’s a national holiday here in the US of A; today’s the day we celebrate our independence. Tomorrow’s the day we recover. After all, as this photo might evidence, we do know how to party . . .
That being said, I intend to spend my day doing what we do on the 4th of July: sipping glass bottled soda through a paper straw; partaking of good old fashioned BBQ fare (hot dogs, potato salad, baked beans, ice cream), and writing my name in sparklers. I’ll also be dodging mosquitoes, attempting to stay cool, and trying not to curse the neighborhood hoodlums as they set off illegal fireworks all hours of the night (morning), in a dry, dry heat.
It’s all part of the celebration, my friends.
Oh, and speaking of independence, over on the book blog we’ve started a list of books with the theme of (personal) independence. Just so you know.
Now, what about you? Any big plans for the coming days? Whatever they are, I hope they’re great. And be you here or there, I hope you have something all your own to celebrate.
Happy 4th of July to my fellow Americans | Happy July 4th to us all!
