Well hello there! I’m a couple days late and a few hundred dollars short–and for no good reason I might add. I was not buried under a mound of edits; I did not happen upon a last-minute excursion; I did not even pen the Great American Novel. No sir, I did not. Fun and frivolity, that’s what it was–I took a couple extra days to frolic. And, other than a speeding ticket, it was grand times had by all.
Although, I must admit, I didn’t ignore you on purpose. As a matter of fact, I felt as though I kept in touch … only to realized late last night that I had written nary a post; I’d only worked on a new blog banner.
When I decided to give my blog a bit of a makeover, you see, I thought it would be grand to highlight a graphic artist each season. A FABULOUS idea, right?! … a copywriter, highlighting a graphic artist … creative genius! So, I found a new artist… I even had an idea of how I would pull it all together. She said she would give it a try; then, at the last minute, wrote and said she didn’t have time. *sigh* So, back to square one. Thankfully, my brother offered to help…before he truly understood what he was getting into. Poor, poor fellow.
Our conversations have gone something like this:
Josh: So, do you have any direction for me?
Me: No, not really … just something summery.
Josh: Something summery?
Me: Yes sir.
Josh: How ’bout this? Or this?
Me: Too busy. Too modern.
Me:Bleck! 60’s! No thank you!!!
Josh: Dare I ask?
Me: I don’t really love it, no.
Josh: What about this one?
Me: Too orange. I like orange, but not too much orange. Here I’ll show you some examples of things I like…
Josh: That last one is totally modern–I thought you said you didn’t like modern.
Me: But it has character. I’m all about modern with character.
Despite the fact that we live an ocean apart–and we were emailing–I could still see the look. Needless to say, I’m sure he would appreciate your prayers…
